I have purchased two of these compasses. One for me and one for my son. My son competes in orienteering and this is his favorite compass. I teach orienteering for the Boy Scouts and find this to be a great compass. It settles down to a bearing very fast. The declination adjustment is easy to use and demonstrate. The shape fits my hand. The dial is in one degree increments and has a magnifier built in to make reading easy. The detachable lanyard includes an emergency whistle. There is a magnifier to make map reading easier and several useful scales are on the base. The blue circle on the base for orienting the compass to north wore off over time so I had to touch it up with a very fine Sharpie. It is a bit pricey but the quality is very good. Unfortunately it is too expensive as a general Scout compass.
